click pic for bigger version A Japanese crafted Black and Gold Telecaster - with a Seymour-Duncan Little '59 in the bridge and coil-tap pull-pot. This is probably the best looking guitar I've ever owned (particularly once I changed the grey mother-of-toilet-seat pickguard to a 3 ply black one). In the end the weight of this guitar forced me to sell it. | Bought 2001 | | Sold 2002 |
Update - Now owned by Si Waite who plays with the warm and exciting Captain Yange - see them if you can... | A G&L ASAT Special Deluxe - very nice but a too posh for me. Edgy, powerful pickups which I suspect are great for clean styles but didn't suit the kind of crunchy blues sound I like. I'd still like an ASAT Bluesboy Semi-hollow at some point. This guitar was very nicely made, but not significantly better than any of the other Teles I've owned. | Bought Oct 2002 | | Sold June 2003 |
| Tokai BreezySound - truly beautiful, with its double binding and red metal-flake finish - a very fine copy with a particularly nice neck and vintage frets - I've fitted a Blueshawk-style Varitone circuit (that's the chicken-head knob) and the bridge pickup from my Thinline (the original was pretty microphonic). I have now also fitted the neck from the Fender Power Tele. | Bought June 2003 | | Nov '05 - I'm about o remove the Varitone circuit as it doesn't suit the guitar | | Sold Oct 2003 |
| Now converted to a "Power Thinline" A Fender Telecaster Thinline '69 Re-Issue - this is a lovely guitar - mellow and warm. The seriously hollowed out mahogany body means it is very light and comfortable - I've added a Seymour-Duncan Little '59 in the bridge with a coil-tap pull pot on the volume control - I also changed both pots from 1Meg to 500k. It has a lovely one piece maple neck and the fretting is delightful. Made in Mexico and none the worse for that! | Bought June 2003 | | upgraded with Seymour-Duncan 'Lil '59 bridge p/u July 2004 and new control electronics | | upgraded with Fishman Power bridge Jan 2004 | | Dave Ridgeway is building me a custom bound and contoured Thinline body for this guitar |
| A Fender Deluxe Nashville Power Tele - for - fantastic sounding pickups - | TexMex Tele neck and bridge | | TexMex Strat middle | | Fishman piezo Power bridge |
Five-way Strat switching, split output from piezo & Magnetic pickups, nice neck and rosewood board. | Bought October 2003 | | Dis-assembled for parts Jan 2004 | | Re-assembled with Tokai neck and new slab bridge - now in the hands of that fine guitarist Gavin Spray - Jan 2005 |
