 | | tone the blueshawk - lives in the Potteries, England, has played guitar on and off for 45 years. He thinks a guitar as good as the BluesHawk should be given support against the prejudice and ancestor worship that rejects any guitar that isn't - | a '50's model, or close reproduction thereof | | attached to an +£1,000/€1,600/$1600 price ticket (how's that for internationalism?) | | like every other guitar out there |
| happy in his work - Summer 2005 | so what's in this bit of the web?... | find out about tonetheblueshawk's other gear here... | | find out what a opinionated old git tonetheblueshawk is here... and here | | tonetheblueshawk now suffers a lot of problems with his joints as a result of rheumatoid arthritis and possibly Hyper-Mobility Syndrome (HMS) and benefits greatly from using lightweight guitars, that have a light action. I also really struggle to play acoustic guitars (which generally require heavier strings and higher action). Tone (the blueshawk) would be interested in hearing from any guitarists who are coping with painful/stiff joints, particularly in their hands or wrists, to share experiences and coping strategies. Update Oct 2004 - over the last year my joints have become progressively less painful and I have recently started to play acoustic guitar again. Update Summer 2005 - the condition of my joints seems to have stabilised - I have bad days from time to time, but mostly I can play heavier gauge strings and my hands are only a little stiff. | | Update Autumn 2006 - I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis following increasingly serious problems with my joints. During the summer 2006 I became quite ill, my joints were swelling up and becoming very stiff and painful. I was diagnosed in late September and started an aggressive treatment programme which at the time of writing is helping to improve my condition a bit - but I am waiting for the treatment's full effects to become apparent - check how things are for me on my blog | | ...and just in case you are wondering? tonetheblueshawk is a third-sector/charity worker, and has absolutely no connection with the Gibson Guitar company or any other commercial interest, and is of an independent & slightly cynical turn of mind, which leaves him wondering why he is doing this at all... |
