Reykjavik is the capital of Iceland and more than 70% of the population of Iceland live there. Nearly all of the buildings are low rise, most of houses are detached and have a small garden. They are built of wood frames and clad with corrugated iron or steel and then painted.

most of the scaffolding appears to be wooden - interesting as Iceland has no trees old enough to fell this from so it must be imported

building down by the harbour - the only place where you get taller properties - we are told this is because tall buildings create long shadows and as for half of the year the sun does not rise very high if at all, that would mean people living opposite were in the dark.
