Tone & Pen are taking photographs that show two people embracing or hugging
for this photoblog.
we want to explore the embrace, and the ways
in which people react to the experience.
in particular, we want to photograph people of differing gender, age and
cultural background whilst embracing.
we aim to be respectful in taking and presenting the photographs.
our aim is to encourage enjoyable, respectful, mutually acceptable embrace as
a valuable human experience - and record it in photographic form.

we will take pictures both formally and informally
formally
- by advertising - we will put adverts in public places in North
Staffordshire, UK - especially arts/cultural venues. we will ask for pairs
of people who
agree to be photographed in mutually agreed, non-threatening locations
and circumstances. the adverts will ask pairs of people to contact us by
e-mail or phone to discuss the project. if they agree to be photographed we
will
arrange a venue and time. sessions may last from a couple of minutes up to
an hour. we will stop the session immediately if anyone expresses
discomfort. we will never use images where either of the people embracing do
not agree to it.
- by direct request- verbally or by e-mail, we will
ask to photograph our friends and family members embracing another person. we will arrange a
photographic session in a mutually acceptable, non-threatening location and
circumstance. sessions may last from a couple of minutes up to an hour. we
will end the session immediately if anyone expresses discomfort. we will
never use images where either of the people embracing do not agree to it.
