...there is nothing about the BluesHawk that rules it out in general terms - however the BluesHawk has a number of acknowledged problems, mostly related to poor quality control and corner cutting - and some distinctive features over which opinion is divided - all of these problems are easily overcome or accommodated...problems | Poor quality machine heads - well at least the look crap - although they don't necessarily perform badly | | the front/neck strap button is mounted at an angle that makes likely both - | the strap slipping off | | the retaining screw pulling out of the body |
| | Lack of markers to show the position of the Varitone control - unless you have a Little Lucille | | Poor finish - seems to affect some guitars | | Poor set-up - seems to affect some guitars | The poor setup and finish seem to suggest that Gibson's quality control is not what it might be, where BluesHawks are concerned. It may be that in producing a relatively complex guitar for a comparatively low price Gibson have given the job of quality control to the retailer and the customer - a good deal if you get a good one, but not, if you get a crap one. |
| | the control electronics seem subject to a range of problems - most often with the Varitone and tone controls |
